VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
The StreetLightUSA volunteer program is a key part of programming, development and operations at StreetLightUSA. We are forever grateful for the many individuals who choose to share their gifts with our staff and the girls we serve to together.
Meet Janice Stauffer!
I love what I do at StreetLightUSA to help everyone and I enjoy when I come to work and the first thing I hear is "Hi Mom" or Hi Mamma. What a feeling that is.
We asked Janice about her choice to volunteer...
Why volunteer?
My husband has been retired for awhile, so he has had the house to himself during the day. Then I retired and now there is 2 people in the house all the time. I went from being very busy to not being busy that was very hard. I wanted to volunteer but I did not know where and how to start looking for a company I could help.

Why StreetLightUSA?
Well my prayers were answered, my daughter Courtney said "Why don't you come and volunteer at StreetlightUSA. She then started to tell me about the organization and I said this is what I need to do. So here I am... I love that I am able to come to work and help any of the staff with a project that frees them up to be doing other things. I am also helping with the donations for the girls and this is very rewarding because every time I turn around, I am getting a call saying I have bags of cloths for the girls. I could go on and on but just know this is where I need to be and thank you StreetlightUSA for giving me the opportunity to be a part of this.
About me:
My husband and I just celebrated our 45 Wedding Anniversary on 10/5/19. One of the most exciting part of my working life was in the early 80's when I worked for a Research & Development Company in San Diego, CA were I assisted on military contracts. I had a Top Secret Clearance based on the contract we were working on. Our office was across from the Mira Mar Naval Base. On our spare time we got to go up onto the roof and sit in lounge chairs and watch the Top Gun Pilots when they were in the Air practicing there maneuvers several times a week.
Then I started my career in insurance and 40 years which I loved helping all my clients and then I retired.
Thank you, Janice! Your contribution has brought many new enthusiastic volunteers and Friends of StreetLightUSA to our doorstep. We are grateful to know you and to call you Friend!
Service Project Shout Out
Our campus was blessed with beautiful outdoor living spaces! More than 60 volunteers came together to build a shade structure, planters, outdoor dining area, sofa day beds, paint a mural and more. We could not believe our eyes when they were done! Thank you to the following organizations: The Mission Continues - PHX Service Platoons, Point B and Bank of America for turning our outdoor areas into a beautiful place for the girls in our care to rest and enjoy the fresh air.
